In short
Varji works on your phone. Your workouts, logs, and settings stay in the app's own database on the device. Two features talk to outside services:
- The routine importer, which turns text you type into a plan, uses our server and OpenAI.
- Subscriptions use Apple and RevenueCat.
Varji has no ads, and no analytics or tracking tools.
What the routine importer sends
The first time you send a routine, the app asks for your permission. When you use the importer, the app sends to our server:
- The routine text you paste, and the answers and corrections you type while reviewing the result.
- A random install id, a number the app makes up the first time it runs. It is not your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID, and we cannot turn it into any of those. It lets us group one import's rounds together, limit how many imports one install can start per hour, and tie your data to your install and nobody else's. The app never shows it. What you see in the mail body of Settings → Email the developer is a support code derived from it, which lets us find your data if you write to us but cannot be used to delete it. A saved copy of your local data does not contain it.
- The app version, so we can tell which version of the app produced a result.
Our server also sees your device's IP address while it is talking to it, as any server does. It is used to limit abuse and appears in short-lived connection logs. It is not stored with your routine.
Why we keep it
We keep the routine text, your answers, and what our parser made of them for two reasons:
- To produce your plan and let you resume an import if the app is closed.
- To improve the parser. Real routines are how we find where it reads things wrong. We review them and use them to test and train the parser.
Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
OpenAI
To read your routine, our server sends the text and your answers to OpenAI, an AI provider, which returns a draft plan. OpenAI receives only that text — not the install id, and nothing else about you or your phone. OpenAI processes it on our behalf. Under OpenAI's terms for its API, it does not use this data to train its models.
Subscriptions: Apple and RevenueCat
Apple handles payments. To check whether this install has an active subscription, the app uses RevenueCat, our subscription service. When the app starts, and when you subscribe or restore, RevenueCat receives a random ID that it creates for this install, and your purchase records from Apple (which subscription, when it started and renews). It does not receive your name or email from us, and it never sees your workouts. We see the same purchase records in RevenueCat, but we cannot tell who you are from them. RevenueCat's own policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
How long, and how to delete
We keep imported routines until you delete them. Settings → Erase data from Varji server erases everything our server holds for your install, immediately, and the app starts using a new install id. Backups of our server hold earlier copies for at most 30 days, and a deletion is re-applied if we ever restore from one. If the app cannot reach the server, email [email protected] with your support code (Settings → Email the developer fills it in, also offline) and we delete it by hand within 30 days.
To delete your purchase records at RevenueCat, email us from the app the same way, and we delete them within 30 days. Apple keeps its own records of your purchases under Apple's privacy policy.
What stays on your phone
Everything else: your programs, workouts, logs, and settings are in the app's own database on the device. Settings → Save my local data copies that database to a file you choose (it does not include the install id). Import local data replaces the database with such a file. Delete all local data resets the app to its first-run state. None of these touch our server.
Children
Varji is not directed at children.
Changes
If we change what the app sends — for example, if we add analytics — this page changes first, and the app's release notes say so.
